Simon Egginton
Chief Instructor, Level 2 ISA Qualified Surf Coach and life guard. Growing up on the Tutukaka Coast Simon is well qualified to know where the best surf is for the conditions. He has 20 years surf experience, taught surfing in Europe and surfed breaks around the world. A regular competitor on the NZ longboard contest tour and a qualified surf competition judge.
Maya Divers
A qualified surf instructor and life guard Maya is mostly looks after the retail side of Tutukaka Surf Beach Shop. Maya loves to surf and paddle-board and is interested in everything to do with surfing and coastal style. Last summer Maya made her own Alaia board and was regularly paddle boarding with dolphins in Matapouri Bay. Maya's home is on the Tutukaka Coast but she travels to other countries with her camera and surfboard in the winter.
Oli Bone
An ISA Level 2 Coach & qualified lifeguard, Oli works as our instructor over summer. Oli grew up on our coast and knows each break intimately. He is an excellent surfer who was rated in the top ten Kiwi surfers. Oli loves the summer break from University on the Tutukaka Coast which is home.
Mal Egginton
A veteran surfer and long time resident of the Tutukaka Coast, Mal enjoys working in his business both in the Tutukaka Surf Beach Shop and as a qualified surf instructor and lifeguard. Recently honored as a life member of the North Coast Boardriders Club, Mal has organised and run many surf contests, including the annual Polar Bear Classic since 1981 and the 1981 NZ National Surf Champs at Sandy Bay.
Ali Egginton
Loves the coastal life-style and working in the Tutukaka Surf Beach Shop. Ali was born in Whangarei and has lived on the Tutukaka Coast for many years. She enjoys walking, paddle boarding and watching surfers around the coast, when she is not stocking or talking to customers in her shop.
Thank you so much for the photos and for the lesson. I loved it! After catching my first wave I decided that surfing needs to play a much bigger role in my life. Realizing that I am capable of learning to surf and enjoying it, even though I will never be an expert, was a tremendous high. The lesson made my vacation. So, thank you!
